Veneers (guaranteed 1 year)

- thin porcelain, ceramic or composite laminates are placed over chipped, broken or discoloured teeth. Treatment is a two-appointment process:

• Appointment 1: your teeth are ground and surfaces cleaned. A part of the enamel (the size of the veneer) is removed and an impression of your teeth taken. You’ll wear a temporary veneer whilst the permanent veneers are being made.
• Appointment 2: Your permanent veneers are fitted for size and comfort, the temporary veneers are removed and your teeth are cleaned again. The permanent veneers are then fitted to your teeth and polished.

Crowns (guaranteed ??? years) -

the easiest way to restore damaged teeth, crowns are made of porcelain, metal or a mixture of the two. Acting as caps on your teeth, they are inserted on top of damaged teeth, and are shaped and coloured to look like your real teeth. Treatment is a two-appointment process:

• Appointment 1: the damaged part of your tooth is ground and cleaned under local anaesthetic. An impression of your tooth is made so that a precisely fitting crown can be manufactured. While the permanent crown is being prepared at a dental laboratory, you’ll wear a temporary crown
• Appointment 2: Your permanent crown is fitted for size and comfort – then the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is fitted to your tooth.

Bridges (guaranteed ??? years)

- an easy way to replace missing teeth, a dental bridge restores a missing tooth by joining a dummy tooth permanently to adjacent teeth so that the gap is bridged by the dummy tooth. Treatment is a two-appointment process:

• Appointment 1: under local anaesthetic, your two teeth on either side of the gap are cut to the right shape so that they can be fitted with the crowns that will hold the dummy tooth in place. An impression of your teeth is then made and sent to a dental laboratory for preparation of the permanent bridge. In the meantime, you’ll wear a temporary bridge.
• Appointment 2: Your temporary bridge will be removed and your permanent bridge (coloured to match your existing teeth) will be fitted.

Implants (guaranteed 5-10 years)

- dental implants can replace lost teeth via a titanium implant inserted into the root area of the missing tooth. After the implant has been fitted and the area around it has healed, dentures can be fitted to implants so that they don’t move around. Alternatively, crowns can be fitted to implants, acting and appearing exactly like normal teeth.

When teeth are lost, the bone around the teeth gradually dissolves away, and implants can only be inserted if there is enough bone present in the jaw. If too much bone has been lost, we can undertake grafts to provide sufficient bone for the implant. Implant treatment is a two-appointment process:

• Appointment 1: the jaw bone is prepared and pilot holes are drilled into the bone where the titanium implant screws are then installed. To avoid infection during the healing period (around four months), a protective cap is placed on the screws.
• Appointment 2: When healing is complete, the permanent implant is attached to the titanium screw. It will look like a real tooth and will be shaped and coloured to perfectly resemble your lost tooth.

Dentures (guaranteed ??? years)

- designed and built to replace and resemble a number of missing teeth or a whole arch, dentures are usually removable, providing stability, comfort and support whilst in the mouth. Treatment is a two-appointment process:

• Appointment 1: the mouth is measured for the denture that will be fitted and an impression taken. The impression is sent away to a dental laboratory for manufacture of the denture.
• Appointment 2: the finished denture is fitted into your mouth and rigorously checked for stability, and comfort – then you’re ready to go, confident of a newly attractive smile and healthy-looking teeth.

Teeth-whitening

- you can choose from two main ways to whiten your teeth:

• Bleaching gel: this treatment can be carried out at home after you’ve had an impression of your teeth made so that thin guard trays can be made. These fit perfectly over your top and bottom teeth and the gel is placed inside them. You then fit the guard trays over your teeth, allowing the gel to do its work over a period of hours. The process is repeated regularly and whitening requires a couple of weeks of daily treatment.
• In-surgery teeth whitening – this hour-long dental treatment is preceeded by an in-depth oral hygiene session. Peroxide gel is then spread on the teeth, and a laser light is used to accelerate the bleaching process to the right colour.
